Jimmy’s story is proof that where you start in life doesn’t define where you will go!
In this inspiring conversation (featured on our podcast), Jimmy opens up about his unconventional journey from early jobs at McDonald’s to training as a Mechanical Fitter, before finding his passion and purpose in sales and marketing.
Jimmy highlights just how important listening is, not only in sales and marketing but in personal development too. When asked about how he continues to develop, even at a Director level, Jimmy shares how he continues to learn from listening to people and drawing upon his own lived experience.
The listening doesn’t stop there! Jimmy highlights just how important listening to all stakeholders in a project is. During his time at Mabo, the team carried out a flip on their case studies. This ‘flip’ focused on the positive changes for the customers brought about by Mabo’s practices: rather than preaching about how well Mabo did. This initiative helped the team to think about the relationship and relatability to their customers with the burning question: how can you sell an idea without thinking what it is like in their shoes?
With the ever changing developments in AI, Jimmy was asked if this is more of a hindrance or a help. The use of AI made data analysis tasks much more efficient, helping Jimmy to direct more of his time on other pressing tasks. AI also takes away the element of emotional thinking, providing more of a fair judgement.
